Girls on the Run hosting end-of-season celebratory 5K on November 17 at Sawyer Point

Girls on the Run of Greater Cincinnati will host its end-of-season 5K on November 17 at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati.

The celebratory 5K is a non-competitive event that provides girls with a goal to work toward during the season and shows them that the finish line is just the beginning when it comes to going after their dreams.

Volunteer-led teams meet twice a week throughout the season and participate in lessons that prepare the girls for a 5K event, foster the girls’ confidence, help them build connections with their peers and encourage meaningful contribution to their community through a service project.

Pre-race celebrations and activities begin at 8 am and the 5K begins at 10 am.

Packet pickup takes place on Friday, November 16 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the new GOTR office, located at 4760 Red Bank Road, Suite 218. Packet pickup is also available at the 5K beginning at 8 a.m.

Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program for 3rd-8th-grade girls that has served over one million girls across the country. Participants develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care, create positive connections with peers and adults and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.

Each session is led by trained volunteer coaches that guide and mentor the girls. The 12-week program concludes with all participants completing a celebratory 5k event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
