Braxton Brewing Company, Double Dogs Chow House partner to release Diddley Lager

Double Dogs Chow House of Bowling Green and local brewery Braxton Brewing Company have joined forces to release Diddley Lager — an American Light Lager with a purpose.

As part of this cause-related initiative, the brands will donate $20 per keg sold to local animal shelters. As well, the spent grains from the brew will be donated to Brewhaus Dog Bones, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vocational training for young adults with disabilities.

Brewhaus uses the leftover grains to handcraft small batch, oven-baked dog treats. To kick off the initiative, Double Dogs and Braxton Brewing Company will also host a total of five release parties at Double Dogs’ restaurants Aug. 16-30 from 4-7 p.m. The events are open to the public.

For more information on the location of the parties, or to join the celebration, visit Braxton Brewing Company’s Facebook events page.

Each release party will tout giveaways and a photo booth for guests and their pups. Donations for the local humane society partners, plus 100 percent of the profits from the new Diddley Lager sold between 4-7 p.m. during the release party, will also go to the local animal shelter partner.

The new Diddley Dog Treats (Diddley Delights) by Brewhaus Dog Bones will be available for sale at all Double Dogs locations beginning Aug. 16, and the Diddley Lager will be available at all Double Dogs locations as a mainstay after the launch. The schedule is:

Launch Party Dates (4 p.m.-7 p.m.)

Bowling Green: Thursday, Aug. 16
Lexington: Wednesday, Aug. 22
Louisville: Thursday, Aug. 24
Knoxville- Kingston Pike: Wednesday, Aug. 29
