Northern Kentucky Young Professionals to host fifth Bourbon & Boards Oct. 26 at New Riff Distilling

Young professionals looking to give back to their local communities on a strategic level are invited to attend Northern Kentucky Young Professionals‘ fifth annual Bourbon & Boards Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 5-7 p.m. at New Riff Distilling.

The event, originally created after regional young professionals voiced that they were interested in joining nonprofit boards but weren’t sure where to get started, is a way to connect nonprofit executives with the region’s future leaders to recruit for board opportunities. The 5th Annual Bourbon & Boards event will provide young professionals with the opportunity to learn about available leadership positions, expectations, and how board-level engagement can support personal and professional growth.

“Joining a nonprofit board is a wonderful way to serve the community and an excellent opportunity to work with organizations that are supporting a cause that you are passionate about,” said Mike Ballenger, CPA and NKYP Chair. “Bourbon & Boards is designed to connect curious leaders who have a passion for giving back to the community with local nonprofits. I’d encourage our region’s young professionals to seriously consider joining us for this unique opportunity to meet with some of our region’s nonprofit organizations and learn how you can add value to these organizations and their missions.”

Christie Rogers, Director of Special Events & NKYP agreed.

“One of the best ways to give back and have a voice in your community is by serving on a nonprofit board,” said Rogers. “Joining a board gives you the opportunity to sharpen your leadership skills, grow personally and professionally and network with business and community leaders. Furthermore, joining a board shows that you are connected to the region and other business and community leaders, which can be very attractive on a resume.”

The YP rate to attend Bourbon & Boards is $15. The Chamber member rate is $25. The rate for future Chamber members is $35. Registration is required and available online at www.nkychamber.com.
