Holmes rushed for 347 yards and six touchdowns in a 40-0 win over Scott on Thursday to remain in contention for the top seed in its Class 4A district.
If Rowan County wins its game at Boyd County on Friday, it will move into a three-way tie for the top spot in the district with Holmes and Scott. A tiebreaker will decide the No. 1 seed that will play at home in the first two rounds of the district playoffs.

Senior running back Tayquan Calloway surpassed the 1,000 mark in total yards this season by picking up 105 yards on 14 carries and scoring two touchdowns. The other TD came on an 80-yard breakaway run by junior Curtez Hill, who ended up with 115 yards on seven carries.
Holmes scored on all four of if its offensive possession in the first half. The first touchdown came after the Bulldogs’ defense recovered a fumbled handoff at the Scott 38-yard line.
The Eagles got the ball into the red zone on a 71-yard catch-and-run by junior Nate Meyer, but they missed a field goal attempt. On the next play from scrimmage, Hill gave Holmes a 14-0 lead with his 80-yard run.
Holmes (7-2) scored three of its final four touchdowns with long drives and finished with more than 300 rushing yards for the third straight week. Junior quarterback Miquel Garcia also completed two passes for 28 yards to give the Bulldogs a net total of 375 in the victory.
Scott (6-3) was shut out for the first time since 2019. The Eagles were averaging 264 yards per game, but they only managed to get 143 (126 passing, 17 rushing) against the Holmes defense. Nearly half of that total came on the 71-yard pass play in the first quarter.
Beechwood, Covington Catholic and Ryle are the other district leaders that can get top seeds by winning games this weekend. Brossart, Newport Central Catholic and Walton-Verona have already clinched the No. 1 spot in their districts.
