Robbins throws five touchdowns, Cumberlands (Ky.) remains unbeaten with 45-31 win at Thomas More

Josiah Robbins threw for 304 yards and five touchdowns as unbeaten University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) pulled away for a 45-31 win at Thomas More on Saturday.

Darius Young hauled in 11 receptions for 208 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Cumberlands improved to 9-0 overall, 6-0 in the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division. The Patriots, ranked No. 8 nationally in the NAIA poll, finished with 444 yards of total offense.

Thomas More’s Justin Post

Young caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from Robbins in the third quarter to extend his team’s lead to 24-10. Weston Hayes later hauled in a 5-yard scoring pass from Robbins to increase the Patriots’ advantage to 31-10.

Senior quarterback Justin Post passed for 257 yards and a touchdown to lead Thomas More. He also rushed nine times for 46 yards and two scores.

Saints wide receiver Mitchell Hogue caught nine passes for 95 yards. Thomas More’s Monalo Caldwell finished with 10 carries for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Thomas More dropped to 3-7 overall, 1-5 in the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division.

Brian Manning Jr. led the Thomas More defense with nine tackles. Peyton Van Horn added eight tackles for the Saints, while teammate Drew Bartolovich collected six tackles.

Thomas More concludes the season next Saturday when it plays host to Pikeville at 1:30 p.m. at BB&T Field.
