Kristi Nelson of Multi-Color Corporation to keynote annual NKY Chamber Women’s Initiative Breakfast

The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Women’s Initiative is preparing to kick off 2020 with its largest signature event, the Women’s Initiative 11th Annual Breakfast, sponsored by PNC.

On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, hundreds of women and men from around Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati will gather at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center (1 W. RiverCenter Blvd., Covington, KY) to network and hear from keynote speaker Kristi Nelson, Vice President Global Resources for Multi-Color Corporation (MCC), a Cincinnati-based leader in global label solutions.

“We’re thrilled to bring an influential, local speaker like Kristi to the Annual Breakfast,” said Barbara Moran Johnson, Chair of the Women’s Initiative Annual Breakfast and Vice President – Investments at Wells Fargo Advisors. “Kristi has been a leader in the Northern Kentucky community for years, and her story is a source of inspiration to others.”

Nelson is responsible for the overall human capital management for MCC’s global workforce, which is comprised of approximately 10,000 employees in 26 countries.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and her JD from Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Nelson currently serves as the co-chair of the capital campaign for St. Elizabeth’s new comprehensive cancer center, as well as on the boards of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center Corporation, Northern Kentucky University Foundation, and Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

During her keynote, Nelson will share insights into the most vulnerable moments in her personal and professional life, and describe how a mindshift empowered her to overcome fear, uncertainty, and self-doubt while rediscovering her resilience.

“Those most vulnerable moments can shake you to your core, and that can lead to powerful change,” said Nelson. “Growth can start from a number of places, but you have to embrace the change. Moving forward despite fear and doubt is part of growing as a person, and can lead to great things.”

In addition to the keynote address, the breakfast will include the presentation of the Debbie Simpson Spirit of Achievement Award. Named after founding Women’s Initiative member Debbie Simpson, the award is presented to a professional woman who has had career success, been active in the community, and made a significant impact on the Women’s Initiative.

The nonprofit partner for this year’s Annual Breakfast will be Welcome House Northern Kentucky. The organization provides services such as housing, service coordination, and outreach to help end homelessness in Northern Kentucky. Attendees are encouraged to support Welcome House’s efforts by donating winter items including outerwear, hand & foot warmers, socks, sleeping bags, tents, and more.
