Registration is now open for the Running of the Wieners, unofficial kickoff to Oktoberfest Zinzinnati


Registration for the Oktoberfest Zinzinnati® Running of the Wieners is now open.

The Downtown Cincinnati event will again feature 100 dachshunds racing on Freedom Way between Walnut Street and Rosa Parks. The Running of the Wieners will be held a day earlier in 2019 – Thursday, September 19 at 11 a.m.

“With our expanded Oktoberfest Zinzinnati® hours, the Running of the Wieners will now be held on Thursday,” said Lori Salzarulo, senior event manager. “Bring your co-workers, friends and family – one day early – for the unofficial kickoff to Oktoberfest Zinzinnati.”

Each dachshund will be provided a hot dog bun costume and will run approximately 75 feet in heats of ten. The winner of each heat will compete in a final race to determine the winning dog! Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place wieners! Entry fee is $35. The event is free for spectators.

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati®, presented by Amazon and Samuel Adams and produced by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, will begin expanded hours in 2019, opening Friday, September 20 at 11 a.m. First held in 1976, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati has grown to be America’s largest Oktoberfest. Friday & Saturday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
