The Independence man arrested Sunday night and accused of threatening to blow up a Cincinnati business was believed to be targeting Planned Parenthood.

Kibler

Daniel Kibler appeared in the Kenton County District Courtroom of Judge Ann Ruttle Monday morning for a bond hearing.

He is charged with possession of a destructive device or booby trap device, terroristic threatening and eight counts of wanton endangerment.

Acting on a tip, Kenton County Police searched Kibler’s home on Open Meadow Drive in Independence and located what authorities have described as an incendiary device.

Kibler, 28, shares the home with his wife and seven children.

While it is not clear which Planned Parenthood facility Kibler was targeting, police say Kibler admitted to creating the device and that he planned to use it to blow something up.

Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio released a statement that reads, in part:

“At Planned Parenthood, the safety of our staff and patients is our priority. We have the highest professional standards and our team works tirelessly to ensure women and families are always able to access affordable, high-quality health care in a safe, respectful environment. That’s what we’re focused on today – and every day.

Kibler is next expected to appear in court early next week. He is currently being held in the Kenton County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
