The Northern Kentucky Health Department is proud to announce its recognition as one of the first public health departments to achieve national reaccreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB).

This designation extends the Health Department’s accreditation status for another five years.
NKY Health was also in the first cohort of public health departments to receive initial accreditation in 2013.
“We are pleased and excited to continue to be recognized for maintaining national standards that foster effectiveness and promote continuous quality improvement,” said Lynne M. Saddler, MD, MPH, District Director of Health of the Northern Kentucky Health Department. “The reaccreditation process helps to ensure the programs and services we provide are as responsive as possible to the needs of our community. Reaccreditation demonstrates NKY Health’s dedication to accountability and credibility to the public, our Board of Health, elected officials and our community partners with which we work.”
The national accreditation program, jointly supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, sets standards against which the nation’s nearly 3,000 governmental public health departments can continuously improve the quality of their services and performance. To receive accreditation, a health department must undergo a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer-reviewed assessment process to ensure it meets or exceeds a set of quality standards and measures. Reaccreditation builds on the initial accreditation and is designed to ensure that accredited health departments continue to evolve, improve and advance, thereby becoming increasingly effective at improving the health of the population they serve.
