McBride

Covington police say Kendal McBride, 25, was apprehended following a traffic stop early Monday morning in Anderson Township.

A Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle at approximately 12:30 a.m. and McBride was identified as a passenger in the car.

Covington Police have been looking for McBride since a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Kenton Circuit Court on Dec. 26.

Covington Police say he is suspected of shooting and killing Malachi Rice, 19, of Cincinnati.

On November 12, shortly before 10 p.m., Covington Police responded to the area of West 18th and Euclid streets in reference to numerous calls of shots fired.

Officers located a victim in the alley behind 1812 Euclid who was shot and had succumbed to his injuries.

Covington Police detectives, the crime lab, and the Kenton County Coroner were notified and responded. They identified Rice as the victim.

Upon receipt of the December arrest warrant, police began an active search for McBride, who was believed to be in Ohio.

A collaborative effort that included the U.S. Marshalls, Cincinnati Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search for McBride.

McBride is in custody in the Hamilton County Detention Center where he awaits extradition back to Kentucky.
