Master Provisions Christmas Sweater Sale next week; ACE Hardware customers donate $3K to nonprofit

Master Provisions will host its annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Sale, Monday, November 26, through Friday, November 30 at their Florence facility. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The sale is in its fifth year and has grown in popularity as more companies and groups host holiday Christmas parties or hold special days for employees to wear holiday items.

Many of these holiday events have prizes for the ugliest sweater. Schaaf noted that ugly, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. “Past customers have reported that the sweaters they purchased at the sale were prize-winners,” he said.

“Throughout the year, our volunteers find a variety of holiday-themed sweaters among the donated clothing we receive,” said Jeff Schaaf, Master Provisions operations manager. “These items are not appropriate to send to mission partners. Sometimes, these partners need warm-weather clothing only, and for others, a holiday-themed sweater may not be appropriate in their culture. But through the sale we are able to generate revenue to support our work of helping people in need.”

The inventory of sweaters includes children’s sweaters, as well as adult sizes.

Master Provisions connects resources to needs, until every physical and spiritual need is fulfilled. It works in partnership with agencies that directly serve people in need, distributing resources. By spending less time and money obtaining resources, these partner agencies are able to focus on their core mission.

Master Provisions is located at 7725 Foundation Drive, just off the Industrial Road in Florence. Parking is available and customers should look for the sweater sale sign at the entrance.

ACE Hardware owner Bill Winegardner delivered the check to the staff of Master Provisions at their Florence facility.

During the month of October, customers at the ACE store on Declaration Drive in Independence, Ky., were given the opportunity to make a point-of-sale gift to Master Provisions as they checked out. Displays throughout the store showed how Master Provisions is involved in feeding the hungry in Northern Kentucky.

“The staff and customers of our store are happy to support Master Provisions and their work in hunger relief,” said Bill Winegardner, owner of the Independence store. “There is a tremendous need here in our own community and I’m proud of the way our team stepped up to help.”

Master Provisions President Roger Babik noted that as many as one in six people in our region experience hunger at some time during the year. “So far in 2018, Master Provisions has made over 3.6 million pounds of food available to about 125 nonprofits who feed the hungry,” Babik said. “We provide food to soup kitchens, shelters, neighborhood pantries and other organizations so they can focus on their missions to help people in need.”

Master Provisions receives fresh surplus food from area wholesalers and distributes it to organizations who provide hunger relief. In addition to these organizations, Master Provisions partners with Isaiah House Ministries to provide food and logistical support for two mobile food pantries held on the last Saturday of each month, one in Ludlow and one in Covington.
