Newport History Museum will host “Harvest the Arts & Music Fest on Saturday, October 13, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at 215 East Southgate Street (behind Hofbrauhaus)
The event features Tom Mitts Memorial Art Exhibit, showcasing his Newport Scenes and includes art demonstrations, live music, food and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Tom Mitts (6/16/62-4/26/17) was an entrepreneur and was well-known for his beautiful restoration and painting of homes in Newport’s Historic East Row neighborhood. Getting a Christmas tree from Tom was a holiday tradition for many in Newport and surrounding areas for 25 years. Many will remember Tom for his humor and wit. Thanks to the generosity of Tom’s mother, Mary, attendees will be able to see this limited showing exhibit of original oil, acrylic and chalk paintings.

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Kyle Meadows – Hammered Dulcimer featuring mid-to-late 1800’s selections and more
1-2 p.m. – NKY Brotherhood Singers – a jubilee-style, a cappella, sacred gospel quintet
3-5 p.m. – Turned Up Band – variety of genres like Funk, Pop, R&B, Motown, Jazz, Blues and even a bit of Country
Art Demonstrations
Attendees will be given the opportunity to paint wood murals to be displayed at a later time on the Westside of Newport.
