The Burlington Pike (KY 18) end of Veterans Way will be temporarily restricted to a one way inbound road traffic pattern from the KY 18 intersection to the entrance of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) School beginning today.

This traffic change will occur after new road signs are installed on Veterans Way in the early afternoon.

The traffic pattern change is planned to be completed before school lets out at IHM at 2:15 p.m.

Once this transition occurs, exiting to KY 18 via Veterans Way will be restricted and all traffic will exit to the new North Bend Road (KY 237) and Veterans Way intersection.

This traffic change will remain in effect until the completion of the construction project.

The road project extends Veterans from near IHM approximately 1/2 mile to connect to KY 237 just south of Stephens Elementary.

The project includes a 10 foot wide shared-use path that will begin at KY 18 and Darlington Drive and run along KY 18 and Veterans Way to KY 237 and end at Stephens Elementary.

A new basketball court will be built to replace the current one that is being removed with the road construction. The project is expected to greatly enhance connectivity and improve traffic flow for those going to and from IHM, the YMCA, Boone Woods Park and Huntington Bank.

Construction was awarded to Lawrence Construction and Leasing, Inc. of Walton for $2 million. Design was completed by GRW Engineers, Inc. of Fort Mitchell.

The project could be completed by the end of September.
