River City Rascals post 4-1 win over Florence Freedom on Saturday night

The River City Rascals scored twice in the seventh inning to snap a 1-all tie and added an insurance run in the eighth to post a 4-1 victory over the Florence Freedom on Saturday night at CarShield Field.

Trevor Achenbach drove in a pair of runs to lead River City, which defeated Florence for the second straight game. Paul Kronenfeld added a solo homer for the Rascals, who eliminated the Freedom from West Division title contention with the win.

River City improved to 51-44 and clinched a playoff spot with the win, while Florence dropped to 49-46. The teams conclude the regular season on Sunday with the finale of the three-game series.

Caleb Lopes hit a solo homer in the first inning for Florence, but the Freedom were limited to just five hits for the game. Florence had two runners on base and the tying run at the plate in the ninth inning, but Jacob Wark grounded out to end the game.

Florence starter Tyler Gibson allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings on the mound. He also struck out three batters.
