Mummert hits .714 with 10 kills, No. 11 Thomas More volleyball defeats Mount St. Joseph in four sets

Given the fact Thomas More College attacked at a blistering .323 clip against visiting Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday night, it’s no surprise the Saints cruised to a four-set victory in the Connor Convocation Center.

Thomas More, which is ranked No. 11 nationally in the NCAA Division III poll, won by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20. The Saints, who hit .372 in the final set to clinch the victory, improved to 12-1.

Jenna Mummert finished with 10 kills and a .714 hitting percentage to lead Thomas More. Mummert slammed down the 10 kills in 14 attempts with no errors, and she also added two block assists and a service ace.

Emily Mohs finished with 10 kills and attacked at a .400 clip with two block solos, while Madison Krumpelman added nine kills, 13 digs and three aces. Jenna Fessler directed the offense and dished out 31 assists.

Mount St. Joseph (5-5) hit just .114 for the match. Thomas More’s defense featured Jessica Ginn, who scooped up 17 digs.

Thomas More hits the road to meet in-state rival Transylvania on Saturday at 1 p.m.

TMC WOMEN’S SOCCER LOSES AT CENTRE: The Thomas More women’s soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to 17th-ranked Centre on Wednesday at Amend Field in Danville. The Saints are now 1-7 this season, while Centre remained perfect at 7-0.

Alana Hughes netted a pair of goals for Centre, which scored four times in the second half to seal the win. The Colonels finished with a 30-1 advantage in total shots.

Thomas More plays at Ohio Northern at 1 p.m. Saturday.
