Annual Dinsmore Homestead Fall Festival will highlight antique homemade quilts

An antique quilt show will be the highlight of the annual Dinsmore Homestead Fall Festival Sept. 8-9.

Quilts from the Dinsmore family collection and from local collectors will be displayed in the historic homestead much as they would have been 150 years ago.

The oldest quilt, the Broken Star quilt, is almost 200 years old and was hand-sewn by ladies of the Resor family, one of Cincinnati’s first families.

Quilt designs range from the traditional pioneer patterns to satin and silk “crazy quilts” of the Victorian period. Quilters will be on hand to explain the quilts and their origins to visitors.

Musicians playing at the Fall Festival include Wild Carrot, Skirt and Boots, the Rabbit Hash String Band, and Ma Crow. There will be games and crafts for children, hayrides, food vendors and local crafters showing their products.

The Dinsmore volunteers will stage their annual Attic Sale during the Festival.

All the music, the quilt show, the Attic Sale, children’s games, and the house tours are included in the admission price.

The Festival is a great family event with activities for all.

The Fall Festival takes place on September 8th and 9th, from 12 to 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children over five. Admission is good for both days of the festival.
