The Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law has the best passage rate among Kentucky law schools on the winter 2017 Kentucky bar examination, continuing its best-in-the-commonwealth results on previous exams.
Eighty-one percent of Chase graduates who took the examination to become lawyers in February passed, significantly above the commonwealth average of 71 percent.
Chase also led the Commonwealth on the 2016 bar examination, when a combined 79.6 percent of graduates passed the February and July examinations.
“The bar examination is the ultimate test of a law school,” Dean Jeffrey A. Standen said. “At NKU Chase, we are very proud of the team effort that produces our success.
“But behind every statistic is a student. Chase students come here because they have a work ethic and commitment to achieve that is second to none. They pass the bar for the very same reason.”
Chase College of Law offers full-time and part-time programs of study, and has an enrollment of about 400 students on the NKU campus in Highland Heights.
In addition to traditional classes, students can participate in the college’s W. Bruce Lunsford Academy for Law, Business + Technology, designed to prepare them for multi-discipline approaches to practicing law, and can gain practical experience in clinical programs in which they work with actual clients.
Classes in the part-time evening division meet two evenings a week and some half-day Saturdays to allow students to balance careers and studies or to commute from outside Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.
