Brower’s RBI single in 10th inning lifts Florence Freedom past Washington Wild Things, 9-8

Jordan Brower’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Florence Freedom a 9-8 win over the Washington Wild Things on Wednesday night at UC Health Stadium.

Jimmy Heck led off the 10th with a single and advanced to third base on a double by Keivan Berges. One out later, Brower singled to drive in Heck with the winning run.

Brower was 3-for-6 with two RBI. Berges and Jacob Wark also drove in two runs apiece.

Washington erupted for six runs in the third inning to grab a 6-1 lead, but Florence scored once in the bottom of the frame and added two more runs in the fourth to slice the deficit to 6-4.

The Wild Things scored twice in the fifth to gain an 8-4 advantage, but the Freedom responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to pull within 8-7.

Florence tied the score at 8-all with a run in the seventh.

The teams close out the three-game series Thursday at 6:35 p.m. at UC Health Stadium.
