New PiAzza at RiverCenter to ‘Rock for the Roses,’ derby event to benefit Horizon Community Funds

PiAzza at RiverCenter, Covington’s newest entertainment destination, is hosting the 2018 Rock for the Roses derby event benefiting the Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky on Saturday, May 5.

Celebrate the most exciting two minutes in sports with live music, delicious food and beverages, giveaways, a hat contest, bourbon tasting, VIP party and more.

“We are thrilled to bring this event to Northern Kentucky and look forward to bringing our community together for a day of fun to benefit Horizon Community Funds,” said Jeff Ritson, COO of PiAzza at RiverCenter. “We want people to dress in their favorite derby attire and hats to enjoy everything new at PiAzza and help support an organization that is working hard to make a difference in our community.”

Starting at 4 p.m. a portion of RiverCenter Boulevard will be closed to traffic so guests can watch the Derby on several TVs throughout the venue.

Food and beverages from Fire, Biscuits to Burgers, and Butlers Pantry will be available for sale inside and outside the restaurants. There will be live entertainment from the Trailer Park Floosies band and DJ Toad. In addition, there will be a VIP party tent including a full dinner buffet and open bar catered by Fire.

“What a wonderful way to celebrate the long-standing tradition of the Derby as well as everything that makes our community so special,” said Nancy Grayson, president of the Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky. “At Horizon, we are on a mission to build a stronger future for Northern Kentucky. This event will directly impact our Community Impact Fund, which allows us to support our community’s most critical needs now and in the future. Feel good knowing that your attendance and participation at this event will help local residents and organizations when they need it the most.”

The goal of Horizon’s Community Impact Fund is to connect the community to the needs across the region and use collective giving as a way to break the cycle of poverty, support the arts, enhance education, and build a successful future for Northern Kentucky. It is the most flexible type of giving fund and allows Horizon’s council of trustees to identify and support the community’s most critical needs. By contributing to this fund, donors help support Northern Kentucky’s challenges, including emergency situations and long-term needs.

The newly launched PiAzza at RiverCenter, located at 50 E. The PiAzza consists of an outdoor patio bar and three unique restaurants – Biscuits to Burgers, FIRE and Butler’s Pantry (a Cincinnati Magazine Best New Market).

There is no fee to enter the Rock for the Roses event. Guests can choose to mingle throughout the venue or enjoy the special VIP experience. Tickets for the VIP tent are $75 per person. A text-to-donate program will be available so guests can easily donate from their phones.
