Turfway Park selections for Friday

Turfway Park’s Mike Battaglia provides daily selections and comments for the Tribune during the live racing meets.

Selections for Friday, March 23

RACE 1
TIZ SARDONIC JOE is one of two nine-year-olds in here who are still running very well. He comes off of a sharp score last out for Kim Hammond and is capable of making it two in a row with Franklin picking up the mount. SKIFFS BREWMEISTER makes his 79th career start and has won back-to-back races at this level. He should get a good trip from the inside post and will be tough to beat. LAFLOWMYLAXBRO finished a neck behind the second pick last out and has to be respected.

RACE 2
STREET PERFORMER stopped badly last out but figures to be on or near the lead throughout in this one. He drops in class and his best would make him a winner at this level. MORNING WAVES was a beaten favorite last out but has the inside post and Ouzts and looks like the one to beat. SUMMERTIME GAL has been running well and fits in here.

RACE 3
WINTER SPRINGS looked good winning last out and can make it two in a row with a similar performance. HOLD MY PURSE has a solid record here at Turfway and beat the top pick back in December. OWL CREEK will be running at the end.

RACE 4
KITTEN’S COVERGIRL is a lightly raced four-year-old from the barn of Wes Ward. She comes off of a game maiden win on the Gulfstream turf and looks like a solid bet to win this one with Jimenez back aboard. SHARED SILENCE was no match for In The Mood last out but that one came back to run second in the G3 Bourbonette Oaks on Saturday. She looks like the one to beat. DIAL ME has been off since June and moves to the barn of Tom Drury, whose horses are running well right now. No published works are a reason for concern and she may need a race before being at her best.

RACE 5
AGENTMULDER has been very consistent since moving to the Turfway Poly. She looked good winning last out and rates the edge in this bottom claimer. WHEN TH CATS AWAY is also good right now and figures to be the main competition. SUCKER PUNCHED drops back to the bottom and Lebron picks up the mount.

RACE 6
LOVEMELIKEYOUDO comes off of a couple of decent efforts at Fair Grounds and drops in class for her Turfway debut. She looks best with Lebron picking up the mount for Angel Montano. WAVE DANCER also takes the class drop after a third-place finish against better. She posted a recent bullet work at Keeneland and will be tough to beat.  SYLESTER YOLY has the speed to be a contender.

RACE 7
COCO MON is an eight-year-old veteran who has been running well against much better competition. The drop in for $40,000 is a reason for concern but anything close to his best would make him a winner for Eddie Kenneally with Declan Cannon aboard. LUCKY RAMSEY and HINTON finished a half-length apart last out and can be expected to run well again tonight in a very good optional claiming allowance race.

RACE 8
DAYIN DEAUVILLE drops back to the bottom and looks like a winner with Cannon picking up the mount for Aaron West. ALLIE GRACE ran poorly in her last two but could wake up in this one. SCAT LADY has been running well at this level and is a contender.
