Prindle retires as Boone County Jailer, Meydak, only 2018 candidate, appointed to fill unexpired term


Ed Prindle has announced his retirement as Boone County Jailer effective 12:00pm on February 28, 2018.

Prindle began his career at the county jail in 1985 and on March 22, 2002 was appointed Jailer by Judge/ Executive Gary Moore to fill the unexpired term of former Jailer, now state Sen. John Schickel. Prindle has been re-elected in that capacity on four successive occasions.

Judge/Executive Gary W. Moore has appointed Jason Maydak as Boone County Jailer effective 12:01pm on February 28, 2018, to fill the remainder of the unexpired term.

Maydak began his career at the Jail in 1997 and has received multiple promotions throughout his tenure currently holds the rank of Captain. Jason Maydak obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati.  Mr. Maydak and his wife Michaelene, live in Boone County and have four children.

Maydak, a Republican, is the only candidate to file for the office of Boone County Jailer in the 2018 Primary Election.

The Boone County Jail is a 500 bed facility that houses county, state, and federal inmates.
