Bodies found at Burlington apartment are a woman and her 9-year-old son; appears to be homicide


The two people found dead overnight at an apartment complex in Burlington are a woman and her nine-year-old son.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office states in an updated release they died from gunshot wounds in what appears to be a double homicide.

The deceased have been identified as Kelli Kramer, 31, an employee of Starbucks in Florence, and her son, Aiden Kramer, a 4th grade student at Burlington Elementary in Burlington.

Boone County Schools issued the following statement regarding the death of the student.

“We are devastated to learn of the tragic death of our student, Aiden Kramer. There will be counselors available to the students and staff of his school to help them deal with this tragedy. Because this case is under investigation there will be no further information coming from the school district at this time. All information related to this case will be released through the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. ”

A Boone County Sheriff’s Office release indicates deputies responded to the 5900 block of Peoples Lane at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday and located two deceased people, a woman and a male, in an apartment there.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and police are awaiting the results of autopsies to confirm the manner and method of their death.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following release and update:

On Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at approximately 3:40 a.m. Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 5,900 block of Peoples Lane in Burlington, Kentucky for a report of two deceased people found in an apartment.

 First responders located a woman and a male in the apartment dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.  Once they determined there was no one else in the apartment they secured the scene for investigators.

Investigators are in their infant stages of identifying the deceased and working toward determining exactly what transpired in the apartment but are not prepared to speculate on any particular method at this point.  More developments will be released as can be.

Updated information:
