More legislators speak out about sexual harassment allegations in Frankfort; call for answers

A group of state representatives, including NKY’s Addia Wuchner released a statement Sunday evening expressing shock and anger at the allegations of sexual harassment that have unseated Jeff Hoover as Speaker of the House — and are still resonating throughout the Capitol.

The group calls for a “complete and public” response to their questions about the allegations, detailed in the release below.

They say the representatives at issue did not “have the full support of the entire Republican caucus” and demand to know the identities of any “individual or business entity that directly or indirectly contributed” in any way to the settlement.

Rep. Sal Santoro (District 60) later also released a statement supporting Hoover’s decision to step down and referring to an “outside investigation (to) reveal the most important facts in the case.”

“I’m saddened by the information made public in the last week in Kentucky’s House of Representatives.  I do believe in due process and hope an outside investigation will reveal the most important facts in this case.” Santoro said.  “As the father of two adult daughters, it grieves me to think they would have to accept any inappropriate behavior from any superior or co-worker, male or female.  To that end, I support Jeff Hoover’s decision to step down as Speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives for the good of the Commonwealth.”
