The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) was recently recognized as the Best Transit System in Kentucky.

The Kentucky Public Transit Association convenes every two years in Lexington for the statewide KPTA conference.  Part of the conference includes an awards ceremony where both KPTA and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) highlight outstanding achievements in public transportation.

At the recent conference, held in August, TANK was awarded the Statewide Overall Transit System Award for 2016-2017.  During the program, it was noted that TANK cares about their customers, uses technology to improve the transit system, that the agency listens to the needs of the community, maintains an outstanding fleet of buses, and is committed to continuous improvement.

“This award is a reflection of the outstanding work that staff does each day and their commitment to TANK’s core values of Customer Service, Professionalism, Respect for the Individual and Open Communication,” stated Board Chair, Tim Donoghue of Boone County.  “The TANK Board is proud to receive this award and recognition from KPTA.”

TANK operates more than 130 buses in the three-county region. TANK is an important partner in the economic growth of the region and is committed to continuing to partner with leaders to develop a comprehensive transportation network for the community.

Among the programs TANK has implemented in recent years is the creation of additional routes and convenient schedule times in an effort to connect potential workers with available jobs in the region’s outlying areas.
