Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour 2017 will visit Florence, Cincinnati this week

The eighth annual Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour will make two stops in the area this week.

During the tour, which concludes Labor Day, Wounded Warriors Family Support’s 2017 Ford F-250 – wrapped in a patriotic design – will travel 5,000-plus miles in a trek to 29 cities in nine states.

The High Five Tour will be at Quaker Steak & Lube, 8025 Action Boulevard in Florence, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Quaker Steak & Lube, 3737 Stone Creek Boulevard in Cincinnati, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The High Five Tour’s mission is to say “thank you” and show appreciation to military families for their sacrifices.

The tour’s goal is to raise $1 million, which will sustain Wounded Warriors Family Support’s programs to support combat wounded veterans and their families. During the tour stop, residents are encouraged to sign the vehicle with a message of gratitude to our country’s veterans and families.

“All donations are appreciated in an effort to help us make our programs a reality for the countless deserving veterans and their families,” said Col. John Folsom, USMCR (Ret.), founder and president of Wounded Warriors Family Support. “The military does a great job fixing up the bones of our wounded military personnel. We help out with morale items.”

Wounded Warriors Family Support is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide assistance to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations.

The organization originated from a small-scale, pass-the-hat campaign initiated by Folsom in 2003 benefitting U.S. soldiers at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany — the first stop for wounded military personnel from Iraq and Afghanistan before returning home. From those humble beginnings, Wounded Warriors Family Support has grown into a national organization serving wounded veterans and their families across the country.

Wounded Warriors Family Support is not affiliated with the Wounded Warrior PRoject.
