Young Ludlow artist Savannah Vagedes to hold her first art show Saturday at Wynners Cup

Staff report

Young Ludlow artist Savannah Vagedes will hold her first art show Saturday at Wynners Cup in Ludlow.

Mayor Ken Wynn, proprietor of the cafe, often hosts area artists and is particularly proud to be featuring the work of Vagedes, an 18-year-old graduate of Ludlow High School.

Vagedes says her passion for art was sparked at a young age and carried her through moving around the country and being disconnected from her family.

“I’ve lived so many places in my life, but none of them have helped me as much as Ludlow has,” says Vagedes.

“Art is about experience, and I’m glad I’ve been where I’ve been and lived where I lived, and I’m also glad Ludlow was one of those places. Ludlow helped me find my voice, not only in my art but as a person.”

Support from teachers, friends, some family, and just people of the community “has pushed me, and inspired me, to go where I know I need to go.”

She also finds inspiration in music.

“Connecting my inspiration to music, one of my goals as an artist is to make posters, and designs, for my favorite bands,” she says. “I also enjoy doing hand painted skateboards, and another goal of mine is to design decks, or merchandise for the skate or surf scene.”

A straight A student, Vagedes says everyone thought she would become a doctor or a teacher, but she chose art.

She’s now attending The Art Academy of Cincinnati working towards a major in print media and minor in design.

Her first art show is Saturday, at Wynners Cup in Ludlow from 1-3 p.m.
