Gov. Bevin orders flags lowered to half-staff Monday, honoring Fort Campbell soldiers who died under fire


Gov. Matt Bevin has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff Monday, Dec. 5, in honor of Staff Sgt. Kevin J. McEnroe and Staff Sgt. James F. Moriarty, Fort Campbell soldiers who died while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Services for Staff Sgt. McEnroe, who died Nov. 4, will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec.5 at Arlington National Cemetery.

According to the Department of Defense, Staff Sgt. McEnroe and Staff Sgt. Moriarty died in Jafr, Jordan, of wounds sustained when their convoy came under fire while entering a Jordanian military base. They were assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Gov. Bevin encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute of lowering the flag in honor of Staff Sgt. McEnroe and Staff Sgt. Moriarty.
