A Burlington Christmas showcases area businesses, attractions, includes activities, Santa Paws Parade


Visit Historic Burlington Friday, Dec. 2 through Sunday, Dec. 4, for a weekend filled with holiday excitement.

burlington-christmas-treeOn Friday night, warm up with hot chocolate and donuts by the gazebo, compliments of Linnemann Funeral Home, and listen to live Christmas music provided by Bowman Music students while waiting for the festivities to begin. Santa will arrive at 6:30 p.m., just in time for the Burlington Tree Lighting.

The Burlington family-owned and operated restaurants will be open for holiday dining and drinks all weekend. The Boone County Historical Society will have a 1950s exhibit of toys and dolls, as well as an American Flyer train and railroad on display in the old County Clerk’s building on Friday and Saturday.

Bring your pets with you on Saturday at 1 p.m., so they can be part of the “Santa Paws” Pet Parade sponsored by the Boone County Animal Shelter. The Adoption Waggin’ will be on hand for those looking to add a four-legged friend to their family.

Boone County Historical Society Museum: 1950s Christmas display with American flyer train and vintage toys — Friday, 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (Old County Court Clerk’s Office behind the Administration Building)

Boone County Public Library, Burlington: An Antique Affair: vintage book sale, book art demos, cookies, cocoa, live music, and DIY crafts — Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

Cabin Arts: 25th Anniversary Celebration, sample sale and refreshments — Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Dinsmore Homestead: Tours, music, refreshments, holiday gift shop — Saturday, 1-5 p.m. and Sunday, noon-5 p.m., Candelight tour Saturday, 6-8 p.m.

Eagle Bend Gift Shoppe: Live alpacas, refreshments, unique gifts — Friday-Saturday,
10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Kinman Farms: Gift barn, petting zoo, and holiday display — Friday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Washington Square Cafe: Cookie decorating and hot chocolate – Saturday
