Dixie Heights High School is hosting a Health Fair on November 12th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The free event is open to the community.
Those in attendance can receive blood pressure, orthopedic, kidney, vision, and hearing screenings. Dental screenings for qualifying kindergarten students will also be available. Plus, there is a Kidz Zone with learning activities for the kids.
Dixie Heights High School is located at 3010 Dixie Highway, in Fort Mitchell.
WKRQ Radio (Q102) will be there from 9am-11am with the Heart & Soul Patrol car. They will have music, giveaways, and stickers for the kids. Attendees can enter a raffle for a 42″ TV or an IPad.
St. Elizabeth Healthcare will be hosting a stroke and cardiovascular screening. You can receive a complete cardiovascular screening package for $100 (four-hour fast required) or receive a screening of your choice for $25:
- Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening – Designed to look for abnormalities in blood flow in the lower extremities
- Carotid Artery Screening – Checks the arteries in the neck where plaque buildup can lead to blockages which are the #1 cause of stroke
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening – Searches for an enlargement or aneurysm in the abdominal aorta that could lead to a ruptured aortic artery
- Cardiac Age Health Risk Assessment – Based on the Framingham Heart Study, it will calculate a 10-year heart risk percentage based on biological age, body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and smoking. It requires a 4-hour fast and involves a finger stick glucose and lipid panel.
