The battle for seasonal holiday workers in the Northern Kentucky region has begun.

FedEx has just announced plans to hire more than 500 employees at its facility in Independence this holiday season.

Several companies have distribution facilities throughout Northern Kentucky and the competition for employees needed to accommodate the holiday uptick in business is strong.

Last year, more than one-third of the package handlers hired at FedEx Ground facilities retained employment with the company at the conclusion of the holiday season, according to a company release.

The holidays are the busiest time of year for Fedex and those interested in a seasonal position are encouraged to apply at careers.fedex.com.

FedEx will begin hiring for seasonal positions in October in the Northern Kentucky region and will continue to add more workers as needed.

FedEx expects to add more than 50,000 seasonal positions throughout its networks in the coming months.
