It’s a bird, it’s a plane. . . it’s a Beechwood Elementary super hero — and, look, there are goals to reach

Beechwood Elementary 'super heroes' gather on the school's football field to let their goals for the school year soar.

Staff report

Teachers, staff and students at Beechwood Elementary in Fort Mitchell broke out their capes and best super hero disguises to kick off the new school year. But the super-hero theme will extend well beyond the first day of school.

Each of the school’s 725 students were asked to identify his or her personal super power, and explain how that power will help them reach their goals this year.

Students wrote their goals on paper and placed them in an envelope attached to a balloon for their respective classroom.

Students let the goals soar like superheroes, as teachers released their class balloon several feet into the air then brought all 29 together to symbolize that it takes teamwork to reach goals.

The event was designed to kick off the year and encourage students and teachers to communicate their strengths and goals throughout the school year.
