Hall of Fame jockey and three-time Kentucky Derby winner Calvin Borel will resume his riding career in Saturday’s sixth race at Ellis Park.
Post time for the race is 3:24 p.m. Central time. Borel is on Kiss My Note, the No. 4 horse owned and trained by Buff Bradley and the 9-2 third choice in the 5 1/2-furlong maiden race on grass.
He also has agreed to sign autographs for fans’ between the second and fourth races.
Borel, a three-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey and ran favorite, announced his retirement in March. Now, he’s changed his mind and has returned to the sport in which he excelled, known not just for his riding but for his colorful personality.
Borel, 49, rode Street Sense, Mine That Bird and SuperSaver to an unprecedented three victories in four years at the Kentucky Derby.
In all, he had 5,146 wins, 1,189 at Churchill Downs over more than 20 years.
