AMGA members share ideas, strategies and information with colleagues facing similar challenges throughout the country. They build stronger professional connections with their peers in similar positions and organizations. The AMGA is one of America’s largest national trade associations, representing a number of prominent medical groups and integrated health care systems, including St. Elizabeth Physicians. More than 130,000 physicians practice medicine in AMGA member organizations, providing care to more than 120 million patients nationwide (approximately one in three Americans).

“Sharing best practices and exploring new health care strategies with peers around the country is extremely beneficial,” Bast said. “AMGA is a wonderful resource and provides great opportunities for networking and professional growth. Having close relationships with my fellow health care leaders throughout the country is so valuable for St. Elizabeth.”

Bast, an active member of the CAO/COO Council since 2012, joined St. Elizabeth Physicians in February 2012. He is responsible for developing and implementing strategies focused on maintaining operational standards of excellence across the organization. He is directly involved in the shaping of patient-centric best practices for St. Elizabeth Physicians and its 450 providers who care for patients at 115 practice sites across three states and eight counties. He also supports the overall strategic direction and financial performance of the organization.

Bast earned his bachelor of science in business administration from Florida Southern College and his master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota. He is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
