Shirley Marsee of Independence, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Woodcrest Nursing Home in Elsmere, KY. She was born in Millstone, KY on October 14, 1938 to the late James Kiser and Bertie Taylor. Shirley retired from the Kenton County School District where she worked in the cafeteria and was a member of Grace United Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed going shopping on Saturdays, reading, and going out for dinner with her family. God always came first in her life, her faith was strong and attending church was very important to Shirley. Shirley was a mom and a “mimi” who will be remembered by her generosity, kindness, and loving personality.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Sillus Marsee; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; and her son-in-law, David Pennington.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Emma “Katie” (Will) Farris; Karen “Peb” Pennington; and Sheila (Scott) Purdy; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway Florence, KY 41042. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband at Union Rice Cemetery in Union, KY.
