Robert Carl Kappes Sr., 87 of Louisville, KY formerly of Cold Spring, KY passed away on December 17, 2018 at the home of his daughter, Elaine surrounded by his children.

Robert was born February 9, 1931 in Dayton, KY to Thomas Kappes and Elizabeth Knight Kappes.

Graduate of Dayton High School in 1949. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Bob retired from the Internal Revenue Service as the only “non-lawyer” Agent in the Estate Tax Dept. 30 year member of the Bellevue Veterans Club. Christmas was his favorite time of year. He carried on many traditions of his fathers in how we decorated the house. He was extremely talented wood worker, avid golfer, bowler and pinochle player.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his Wife of 53 years, Mary Grace Gibson Kappes, Brothers, Mike, Paul, and Bill Kappes.

Robert is survived by his 2nd Wife, Anna Mae Kappes, Brother, Charlie Kappes, Son, Robert “Bob” (Cathy) Kappes Jr., Daughters, Kathy Kappes (Bruce) McConnell, Mary Alice Walter, Carole Amend, Elaine (Jerry) May, Paula Kappes (Steve) Donohue, and Debbie Kappes (Joel) Stanley, 11 Grandchildren, and 14 Great Grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 241 Fairfield Ave., Bellevue, Kentucky.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 22, 2018, 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church/ Divine Mercy Parish, Bellevue, Kentucky.

Burial will take place in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas, Kentucky.
