Richard “Rip” Ripberger of Alexandria, KY, 78, passed away on December 15,2020 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood, KY. He was born in Cincinnati, OH to Albert and June Ripberger who preceded him in death along with his son Richard Scott Ripberger (Vickie). Married to Karen Nichols Simpson for twenty-eight years who he affectionately called Mom. He retired from Iron Workers Union Local 44 after thirty-one years and took pride in projects around Cincinnati such as the downtown P&G buildings, Beckjord, Zimmer and Mill Creek. He was a longtime member of the Bluegrass and Northern Kentucky Saddle Clubs where he developed many lifelong friendships and a generation of stories riding the trails. He was passionate about welding and building things made to last. When he wasn’t building, he enjoyed perfecting his pie crust and making all types of pies. Most of all he loved nature and telling stories about his encounters with wild animals to his friends and family. Richard is survived by siblings Thomas (Betty) Ripberger, Carol Hamilton, Donna (Merle) Gasdorf and Mike (Regina) Ripberger. Daughters Bridget Ripberger, Nicole (Hank) Johnson, and Tammy (Sam) Popp. Grandchildren, Charles (Mary) Alley, Danielle Alley, Hank Johnson II, Brittney Johnson, TJ Popp, Johnny Popp and James Popp. Great grandchildren, Kenzie Joering, Lainey and Charlie Alley and Zoe Leibel. Visitation Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Alexandria Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until time of Prayers at 5:00 PM.
