Mosser P. Shives, 96, of Florence, KY (formerly of Temple Hills, MD), peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, under the loving care of St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY.

Mosser joined the United States Army Air Forces in 1942 and is a decorated veteran of both WWII and the Korean War. He served in the military for sixteen years and worked as an aircraft mechanic. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked at Andrews Air Force Base as a civilian aircraft mechanic on the presidential aircrafts.

Mosser was born on August 18, 1922, in Fulton County, PA, to the late Lemuel and Eva (née: Pittman) Shives. Mosser was preceded in death by sisters, Ida Litton, Vesta (Becky) Hull, Marie Crouse and brother, John Bard.

Mosser is survived by his wife of 64 years, Flossie B. (née: Bishop) Shives, daughter, Nancy Bender, son-in-law, J. David Bender, granddaughter, C. Alyse (Kevin) Bender Hoffer, grandson, Jonathan Bender, and great grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Hoffer.

A private memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, Williamstown, Kentucky, with Rev. Michael Sweeney officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 S. Loop Road, Edgewood, KY, 41017; Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North Trust Fund, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY, 41097; or to a charity of your choice.
