Marlene Rae Heideman, 68, of Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, September 26th at her residence. She retired from St. Elizabeth Edgewood after 41 years in the Pharmacy, first as the Buyer and later as a Pharmacy Technician. Marlene was an active parishioner of St. Therese Church, Southgate where she was a Sacristan, Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and past officer of the Altar Society. Marlene especially loved decorating and preparing the Church for the Holy Days and Feast Days. She had a great appreciation for nature & wildlife and a fondness for “Fiona.” Her photography was always of nature as she captured the beauty of God’s creation. Marlene enjoyed all types of music and was a self-taught guitarist. Her love of travel took her throughout the USA, Caribbean, Canada and Ireland, but she felt most at home on the beloved American Queen and Delta Queen as she steamboated the entire Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Edward “Pat” & Mary (nee. Hogle) Heideman. Marlene is survived by her best friend, Kathy Mayer; sister, Cheryl (Bill) Hightchew; aunts, Mary Kanienberg, Janet Baron, Rosella Schof & Clara Hogle and numerous cousins. The Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 5th at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 6th at St. Therese Church, Southgate, KY with the burial to follow at St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the St. Therese Church Sanctuary Fund, 11 Temple Pl., Southgate, KY 41071 or Bluegrass Care Navigators, 7388 Turfway Rd., Florence, KY 41042.
