Marian Franxman Pauly (December 15, 1924 – May 20, 2022)

Marian’s Hospice caregivers explained to her children that people die as they live, and this was indeed the case with Marian. While during her life she insisted on being called “cute,” not “beautiful,” her beautiful spirit is undeniable. Until the last, Marian’s days were defined with joy, gratitude, faith, humor, and love. Born Maria Anna Gratia Franxman to her mother, Loretta, and father, Carl, Marian’s life wishes were simple: a good husband, children, and a home. She treasured these gifts as a devoted wife, dedicated mother, fun-loving grandmother, and the keeper of a warm, welcoming home that’s back door was always open; Marian at the window, watching for birds and ready to wave in a visitor.

Marian was preceded in death by Howard Pauly, her beloved husband of nearly 70 years; her eldest son, Tom and his widow Julie; her only sibling, Lucille Buecker (Dick); and her much-loved in-laws/”out-laws”: Bert, Glenn and Boots Pauly and Sally and Ray Duncan. Marian is survived by her remaining children Nancy Brinker (Tom), Bob Pauly (Brenda), Jim Pauly (Carol) and John Pauly (Julie). Her home in Fort Mitchell, KY, at 6 Cornell Drive (currently Bob and Brenda’s) was her haven, and a haven to many.

She relished her roles of Grammy to thirteen grandchildren and seven (soon to be nine) great-grandchildren; and Aunt Mimi to her beloved nieces, nephews, and their children. Although Howard and their family were Marian’s center, her circle was much wider – encompassing dear friends and community members. She served these communities well, both as a volunteer and as a life force, in the city of Fort Mitchell, her parish of Blessed Sacrament, and her final home at Madonna Manor.

Marian loved nothing more than a good story. Visits and phone calls often started with, “Let me tell you something funny that happened.” She loved her life, found both grace and humor in even the everyday, and left an impression on all who crossed her path. Her family, friends, neighbors and loved ones will honor the story of her life, and the indelible mark she left on theirs on Thursday, May 26th, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2409 Dixie Highway, Fort Mitchell, KY. Visitation from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00 pm. Middendorf Funeral Home in Ft. Wright are handling the arrangements. Donations in Marian’s honor may be made to the City of Fort Mitchell, Howard and Marian Pauly Beautification Fund (Pauly Park), 2355 Dixie Highway, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017.
