Lois Schambach, née Huber, 91 year old long-term resident of Fort Thomas, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Spanish Oaks Retreat in Savannah, Georgia where she most recently resided. Lois was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Vincent and Bernice Huber. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. William (Bill) Schambach of over 66 years and her son Dr. Bruce (Sofia) Schambach.

Lois was a loving mother of daughter Bernice (Fred) Culbertson and sons Dr. William Lee (Mahtab) Schambach, Gary (Shirley) Schambach, and David (Melissa) Schambach. Together Bill and Lois had seven grandchildren, including granddaughters Dr. Leeann Benesh, Genevieve Boulanger, Alle Evans, and Maggie Schambach, as well as grandsons Adam Schambach, Kent Schambach, Jeff Culbertson, and six great-grandchildren.

Lois was a kind and loving mother who was committed to her family as well as her great friends. She loved to entertain and cook for all anywhere from the backyard of her home to the banks of the Ohio River, and even the occasional campground. She was equally committed to the care of over 40 years worth of patients her and Bill assisted with their eye care in Newport. Lois was a very talented artist who studied at Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center and shared her drawing talents with so many grade school children in Fort Thomas, as well as neighborhood kids in her later life.

Lois was blessed to have so many wonderful friends from community involvement, volunteering projects, bridge clubs, tennis and golf partners, as well as fishing buddies. Her love for the outdoors and gardening was incredible.

Lois never knew a stranger and always made you feel welcome, special, and you never went home hungry.
