John E. Deering, 91, of Ft. Thomas, passed away on September 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Thomas where he served as an Elder and a Deacon, he was a Teacher and Principal of Highlands High School for 25 years, and Principal of Grandview Elementary School in Bellevue for 8 years. John was an Adjunct Professor of English and Education at the University of Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky University for 43 years. John was a former member and Past president of the Bellevue Rotary Club, the Co-Founder of the Tri State Photographic Society (1976), a member and Past President of the Photography Club of Greater Cincinnati. John was a WWII navy Veteran serving on the destroyer, U.S.S. James E Kyes-DD-787, he was a graduate of Holmes High School, Eastern Kentucky University, and Xavier University Graduate School. John is survived by his wife, Anna C. Deering of Ft. Thomas, KY, sons, Dana (Barbara) Deering of Ft. Thomas, and Mark (Jennifer) Deering of Richmond, VA, his brother, Ronald (Lucia) Deering of Champaign, IL, and his grandchildren, Brittany Durrani, Natalie Deering, Samuel Deering, Jenny Griffith, and Ian Foster. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Thomas. Funeral Ceremony will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will take place in the Highland Cemetery Ft. Mitchell, KY. Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell serving the family. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Thomas 220 S. Ft. Thomas Ave. 41075, or, Ft. Thomas Education Foundation P.O.
