Jess W. Davenport, 100 years of age, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Margaret Davenport DuPuy. Left to mourn Jess’ passing are his sons, Kenneth Davenport and James Davenport (Rita) of Huntsville, Alabama; Grandchildren, Drew Davenport (Anna) of Huntsville, Alabama, Abbey Majors (Art) of Atlanta Georgia and Langda Brockman (David Rassche); Great-Grandchildren, Brennen Adkins, Brilee Rassche, Layne Rassche; His sister, Georgia Davenport Stringer of Somerset; and his beloved dogs, Jesse James, Cinderella, Mack, and Johnny Ringo. He will be remembered as good and honorable man. Jess served his country in the United States Army during World War II, in the 38th Division Infantry Division, as a combat medic. He was twice awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his service. Jess was a carpenter that could do virtually anything. He worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority and later retired form Kentucky Motors in 2007. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. Highway 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested the Alzheimer’s Association 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
