Turfway Park selections for Wednesday

Turfway Park’s Mike Battaglia provides daily selections and comments for the Tribune during the live racing meets.

Selections for Wednesday, Dec. 6.

RACE 1
SHOTOGOODJUDGEMENT ran fifth in a ten-horse field at Churchill and should move forward off that effort. IDONTCAREWHATUSAY was third after showing good speed in both of her races at Mountaineer and is the one to catch. HEART AND PRAY was overmatched in her debut but drops in class and Sarvis picks up the mount.

RACE 2
BROOKLYN SPEIGHTS drops to the bottom after a maiden win at Belmont. The big class plunge is a reason for concern but anything close to that race makes him a winner at this level. INNOCUOUS ran fifth here on opening night. He comes back on short rest but looks like the one to beat. BRO STROLL is a contender.

RACE 3
JEN’S SONG comes off an even effort on the dirt at Hawthorne. He ran much better on the Tapeta at Presque Isle and should like the move to the Turfway Poly.  Give him the edge in a well matched sprint. BUD’S BAYONET was overmatched last out at Churchill but drops back to a better level and has run well here in the past. BIRDS GONE WILD is another invader from Presque Isle. He has been off since September but still looks dangerous.

RACE 4
SLOWHAND has been idle since Ellis but is training well for Wes Ward, who is good with returning runners. He looks like a solid bet to handle this field with Channing Hill aboard. BIG RALPH has been running on the grass at Laurel. He drops in class for his return to Kentucky and is the one to beat at this level. COPPER MUNN should get a good trip from the inside post with Outzs in the irons.

RACE 5
ALL HANSENS ONDECK is a lightly raced three year old who rallied in the stretch to finish second in his last race at Churchill. He can move forward off that one and gives Channing Hill an excellent chance for back-to-back winners. MOTOWN RHYTHM is a speed son of Uncle Mo who could be tough if left alone on the front end. SACRED PROMISE would be a threat if he gets in.

RACE 6
FAIRYLAND faded after pressing the pace while facing colts in a stakes race on the Saturday Breeders’ Cup undercard. She has had two works at Keeneland since that effort and Ward figures to have her ready to win this evening. BIG AXE has been running for a tag but has won two of three for Kellyn Gorder and will be rallying off of what figures to be a fast pace. AMBERSPATRIOT was second in the Kentucky Juvenile back in May. She has been facing tough company recently and is a definite threat for John Hancock.

RACE 7
VALENTINE ROSIE was claimed from a winning effort by Mike Maker, who moves her up in class for her return. She has been training here at Turfway for the past month and can make it two in a row despite the class hike. ROSE TO GLORY has been in the money in eight of her 12 races this year.  She ran well to finish third last out at Keeneland and a repeat of that one makes her dangerous. NAKED BOOTLEG owns a win over this track and is a contender.

RACE 8
SOCATA has shown marked improvement in her last two races for Charlie LoPresti. If she continues to move forward she can win this one with Malcolm Franklin picking up the mount. TAGLIA has been away from the races for 18 months but is in the capable hands of Wes Ward. She shows only three published works but will probably flash speed from the inside post. Watch the board for clues on this one. STREET LOVE has been second in three of her last four and is a contender.
