Another landmark Covington structure, the Bradford Building, will become livable, convenient condos and vibrant commercial space, thanks to The Catalytic Fund and its project investors.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at the site, 326-336 Scott Street, for the project supported by Heritage Bank, the City of Covington and developer Orleans Development.

Taking part in the cermonies are Jeanne Schroer, president and CEO of The Catalytic Fund, Covington Mayor Joe Meyer, President and CEO of Heritage Bank, Lyttle Thomas, Tony Kreutzgans, principal of Orleans Development and Joy Amann of Huff Realty.

“The Bradford on Scott is a prominent historic asset valued by its community,” said Schroer. “We were glad we were able to formulate a development plan that saves the building and contributes to Covington’s ongoing development momentum.

“The Bradford on Scott will continue the high standard of quality that we see in the Boone Block Lofts and positively impact future redevelopment projects in Northern Kentucky.”

The Bradford Building’s redevelopment continues the exciting renaissance that is happening in Northern Kentucky’s urban core and the movement toward urban living.

The Bradford Building is located at 326-336 Scott Street, near the heart of Covington’s Roebling Point entertainment, residential and business district. It is currently vacant and blighted.

The 14,800 square-foot three-story historic building will be converted into five condominium units and five street-level commercial spaces.

The total project cost is $2,481,000. Renovations are expected to take a year. Condos are expected to be priced from $299,000 to $499,000.

“The condo market is making a comeback. We’re building off of the momentum of our Boone Block project and we’re also watching OTR and their success with condo development. Now is the time for Covington,” said Kreutzjans.

The project’s location at the gateway to downtown Covington just blocks from the Ohio River makes it walkable to downtown Cincinnati’s world class arts, sports and recreational attractions.

The Bradford Building also will continue the walkable connection between the Roebling Point and RiverCenter areas, Gateway Community and Technical College’s Urban Metro Campus and Covington’s revitalized business district.

I am swooning over the concept drawings! Exactly the type of residences I am looking for in considering a move to Covington.

No mention of the $500K grant Covington was supposedly giving out towards the project? I think it is a great project but the developer shouldn’t be heavily subsidized by the city.
