Campbell County Public Library says Drop Your Drawers at any branch to help the public schools

The Campbell County Public Library is asking you to Drop Your Drawers off at any branch of the library — to help fill a need in the public schools for new boys’ and girls’ underwear, sizes 4-16.

Their goal is 6,000 pairs of underwear that the schools’ Family Resource Centers say are badly needed.

Put “underwear” on your holiday shopping list, then drop them off at your nearby branch forthe Drop Your Drawers campaign through Dec. 31.

Donations will help replenish Campbell County public elementary schools’ supplies of emergency underpants and provide direct assistance to each school’s Family Resource Centers.

The need is great. Schools are handing out 30 to 100 pairs each month to children who need clean underwear due to accidents at school or issues at home.

Because parents often are unable to bring fresh underwear to their children during school hours, children can miss valuable learning time in the classroom.

In 2015, more than 5,000 pairs were collected. Last year the library exceeded its 6,000 last year and is ready to do it again!
