Northern Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball release 22-game Horizon League Schedules

The 22-game Horizon League schedules for the Northern Kentucky Univesity men’s and women’s basketball teams has been announced by the league office.

NKU men’s basketball (MBB) will play each conference foe twice in a true round-robin format that pits the Norse against each team once at home and once on the road.

A road trip to Cleveland State and Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 2 and 4, respectively, kicks off the league calendar for the Norse.

MBB opens conference action at BB&T Arena with a five-game homestand, beginning with Green Bay and Milwaukee over New Year’s Weekend. First up is a pair of contests against two foes from the Badger State, the Phoenix on Dec. 30 and Panthers on Jan. 1. Northern Kentucky follows with three games in a five-day span, as it welcomes IUPUI, UIC and Wright State to Highland Heights on Jan. 6, 8 and 10, respectively.

Four straight road contests at Youngstown State (Jan. 13), Robert Morris (Jan. 15), UIC (Jan. 20) and IUPUI (Jan. 22) close out the first half of league play.

The backend of the conference docket begins with a four-game homestand versus Purdue Fort Wayne (Jan. 28), Cleveland State (Jan. 30), Oakland (Feb. 3) and Detroit Mercy (Feb. 5).

MBB then embarks on a five-game road swing with another three contests in five days. Milwaukee provides the first test on Feb. 9 before matchups at Green Bay on Feb. 11 and at Wright State on Feb. 13. A jaunt further up I-75 to the Motor City and games against Detroit Mercy and Oakland on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20, respectively, wraps up the road portion of MBB’s Horizon League schedule.

The regular season then concludes with Robert Morris on Feb. 24 and Youngstown State on Feb. 26.

Northern Kentucky MBB previously released its full non-conference schedule, which is highlighted by home games against UNC Greensboro, Eastern Michigan, Western Illinois and Canisius, as well as road contests versus DePaul and Indiana.

NKU women’s basketball (WBB) opens the league docket with a trip to Wisconsin, where it is set to battle Green Bay and Milwaukee on Nov. 18 and Nov. 20, respectively. The home portion of the league schedules begins on Friday, Dec. 3, with a matchup against Cleveland State and follows with a Sunday, Dec. 5, contest versus Purdue Fort Wayne.

League play resumes over New Year’s with the Norse set to travel to IUPUI and UIC for games on New Year’s Eve and Jan. 2, respectively.

NKU’s schedule see-saws back-and-forth between home and road contests throughout the duration of the league calendar. WBB host Robert Morris (Jan. 7) and Youngstown State (Jan. 9) before hitting the road again with a trip to the Motor City for matchups at Detroit Mercy (Jan. 13) and Oakland (Jan. 15).

Rivalry weekend is slated for the following weekend. Northern Kentucky and Wright State play twice in a three-day span. First, WBB hosts WSU on Jan. 20 before the Raiders welcome the Norse on Jan. 22.

Nearly three months after the teams met for the first time, WBB are then set to host the Milwaukee Panthers and Green Bay Phoenix at BB&T Arena on the respective dates of Jan. 27 and 29. NKU then returns trips to Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 3) and Cleveland State (Feb. 5) before heading home to Highland Heights for contests with UIC (Feb. 10) and IUPUI (Feb. 12).

The final four regular-season contests have the Norse WBB playing road games against Youngstown State and Robert Morris on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20, respectively. Closing out the season is a homestand with Oakland (Feb. 24) and Detroit Mercy (Feb. 26).

Northern Kentucky WBB previously announced non-conference home matchups against Kent State on Nov. 10 and Eastern Kentucky on Nov.14. The women are also slated to play four additional out-of-league road games this year. On Nov. 24, NKU heads to Oxford, Ohio, to play Miami (Ohio). The team then travels to Central Arkansas for a Nov. 27 showdown. The final two games are at Saint Louis (Dec. 11) and at Wofford (Dec. 20). NKU is also set to host Pikeville on Nov. 1 in an exhibition match.
