Boone County

 

 

John Schickel Republican – Incumbent

John Schickel has served in the state Senate since 2009. A Union native, he is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University where he earned an MPA. A retired law enforcement officer, he served as a Florence police officer for over a decade, as Boone County jailer from 1987 through 2001, and as U.S. marshal for the Eastern District of Kentucky, 2002-2008. He has been a member of the League of Kentucky Sportsmen, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Florence Rotary Club, the Boone County Business Association. James Fioreli – Democrat

James Fioreli’s website contains information on his stand on issues, but no biographical information. He did not respond to requests. Damon Thayer Republican – Incumbent

Damon Thayer of Georgetown is the Kentucky Senate Majority Leaders and has been serving in the state Senate since 2003. He graduate from Michigan State University with a degree in communications and is President of Thayer Communications and Consulting. He is a member of the Scott and Grant counties Chambers of Commerce, the National Rifle Association, Kentucky Right to life, the Scott County Farm Bureau. He has two children.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Jason Stroude – Democrat

Jason Stroude graduate from Grant County High school and attended Morehead State University. He has been a butcher and a union member for 12 years. e has worked as a network tech, banker, tow dispatcher, and gas station attendant.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Chris McDaniel – Republican Incumbent

Chris McDaniel is owner of McD Concrete. He earned a BS degree from The Citadel and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University. He grew up in Taylor Mill and graduated from Covington Latin School. He served four years as an infantry officer in Ft. Stewart, Ga. and earned the rank of Captain. He is a member of the American Society of Concrete, the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association, and other industry groups, and was president of Leadership Northern Kentucky. He was elected to the Senate in 2013. He and his wife Renee live with their six children in Ryland Heights.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Ryan Olexia – Democrat

Ryan Olexia is a veterinarian, a small business owner and an Army veteran. His veterinary practice is in Fort Mitchell and he and his family (wife Molly Kellner and two children) live in Park Hills. He grew up in West Virginia in a family of union steelworkers and after his service in the Army, moved with his wife to her hometown. He is a graduate of West Virginia University and the Ohio State University vet school.
