Jeff McCarthy and his daughter, Alison, will be among six additions to the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame during the November induction meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Villa Hills Civic Club.

Jeff McCarthy

The father played football, basketball and baseball at Campbell County High School. He received all-state honorable mention in all three sports and went on to play quarterback for Eastern Kentucky University. During his senior season in 1974, he passed for 1,026 yards and seven touchdown on the EKU team than won the Ohio Valley Conference.

Jeff has been a local high school football coach for more than 30 years. During his career, he was head coach at Holmes and Scott. He’s now an assistant coach at Campbell County.

The daughter earned varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, softball and track at Holmes High School. She was named most valuable player in the 1993 9th Region basketball tournament after getting 15 points and 13 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 46-43 win over Boone County in the championship game.

Alison McCarthy

After playing college basketball for Northern Kentucky University, Alison also became a high school coach. She returned to Holmes and was head coach of the 1999-2000 basketball team that was 9th Region runner-up. She was in charge of the Beechwood girls basketball program from 2006 to 2013.

The other four inductees into the Hall of Fame on Wednesday will be Jim Ferguson and Paul Jackson for softball, David McFarland for basketball and Matt Branum for football, wrestling and track and field.

The guest speaker will be former Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning. The induction ceremony is free and open to the public.
