This year’s annual conference was held this week at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, with more than 375 tourism professionals from Kentucky and around the country in attendance.

Founded in 1980, KTIA serves Kentucky’s tourism industry with advocacy, education, information and business development services. Above all, KTIA leads a concerted effort to increase awareness of the vital role that tourism plays in Kentucky’s economy. In 2017, the Kentucky Hotel & Lodging Association merged with KTIA, creating a more representative organization of the state’s tourism industry.

“Tourism is a major contributor to the Commonwealth’s economic growth and prosperity,” Summe said.  “Our association members work together to ensure our partners, stakeholders and communities realize and appreciate the value visitors bring. In addition, the association enhances member efficiency by encouraging ongoing educational opportunities and supporting high standards of professional practices throughout the industry.”

In his role as Board Chairperson, Summe said he’s looking forward to working with his colleagues to continue advancing Kentucky’s position as a premier visitor destination forward.

“Our association is a close-knit group that works together to advance our industry,” he said. “And this year, we’re very excited to host the annual conference here in Northern Kentucky and have the chance to showcase our vibrant region. All of our partners around the state and beyond really enjoy coming here for the many experiences and great hospitality.”

The mission of meetNKY is to serve as an aggressive destination sales, marketing, and service organization whose primary responsibility is to positively impact the Northern Kentucky economy through conventions, meetings, and visitor expenditures. The tourism industry in NKY is a vibrant part of the economy in the Cincinnati region that generates more than $5 billion of economic impact and supports over 77,000 jobs.
