Kmart on Dixie Highway in Erlanger added to growing list of Sears/Kmart store closings

On the heels of announcing closure of 26 Sears and Kmart locations October, CBS is reporting that nearly 100 additional stores will close by December or sooner.

Kmart on Dixie Highway in Erlanger to close.

On that list are two stores in Kentucky, including the Kmart in Erlanger at 3071 Dixie Highway.

The other Kentucky store is in Somerset at 420 East Highway 80.

Back in February, former Sears CEO Eddie Lampert struck a last-minute deal to buy the company out of bankruptcy. About 300 stores are expected to stay open under a new entity known as Transform Holdco, reports CBS.

While company officials did not release an official list of the locations closing, news outlets reported this week about some of the closings and lists were posted on sites including www.thelayoff.com.

The new company does not rule out more closings.
